We use virtual software systems to analyse the building’s performance during the early stages of development, to evaluate and present to the client and team thermal and visual options for the project.

Communication of design solutions through 3D visualised formats allows the team to fully understand a proposal prior to full development. The accuracy of these complex modelling programmes ensures that the finalised solution is realised.

Thermal Modelling

Through our use of simple graphical representations, all collaborators on a project are able to understand the effects of passive systems on the internal environment of the building.

Modelling for the building’s thermal criteria, when related to actual yearly weather data, provides detailed information relating to the building’s performance under a number of optional design scenarios.

Detailed thermal modelling, used in conjunction with our innovative construction research, enables us to realise appropriate temperature control all year round.

Computational Fluid Dynamics

Passive and mechanical ventilation systems are comprehensively analysed by computerised models to confirm interaction between the building, occupants and equipment in order to verify resulting environments.

CFD analysis for cooling systems such as active chilled beam air flow distribution allows effective ventilation and cooling of areas to be extensively tested and tailored to the needs of a building.

3D Visualisation

We use 3D modelling throughout the design process to simply describe design elements and improve communication and understanding of design proposals. Through combining our 3D visualisation and lighting expertise we are able to produce visualisations honed to natural interior illumination levels to realistically interpret the effect of a proposal.

Lighting and Daylighting Modelling

The economic, aesthetic and health benefits of effective coordination of natural and artificial light and the impact on productivity are fully understood. Our designs ensure minimum artificial light is adopted, whilst maintaining radiant/bright, vital interiors.

Detailed modelling is achieved through use of various imaging programmes, allowing different options to be thoroughly scrutinised in order to produce the most effective final result.

Solar Analysis

By designing building orientation and form proposals with regard to the variable impact of the sun upon a site, we optimise occupant comfort in a cost-efficient, sustainable manner. Utilising passive heat storage and recovery, passive water heating and solar electricity all aid in achieving sustainability and minimising carbon emissions.
