Interactive tutorial documents
Onboarding new users to a design tool is rarely solved by documentation alone — people learn more effectively by doing, not reading.
These interactive tutorials were built around that principle, designed to sit within Sketch's “Design Resources” section, accessible directly from the desktop application or any browser.
Launching a tutorial opens a fully editable, live document inside the user's own workspace — removing the distance between instruction and action, and allowing concepts to be understood and retained through direct, hands-on experience, rather than passive consumption.
A quick overview of some of the tutorial content.
Each tutorial focuses on a single feature, keeping the learning curve manageable and the focus sharp. Working with sole ownership across every aspect, I conceived the structure and methodology for each from scratch — determining not just what to teach, but the most effective way to demonstrate it. All assets were created independently, and every word of the instructional copy was written personally — crafting language that was clear, encouraging, and immediately actionable, with consistent signposting throughout to ensure users always knew exactly where they were and what to do next.
